converting 12v power requirment

Can I run a 24v dometic air conditioner through the 12/24v dc to dc convertor from the 12v car battery, without a secondary 24v battery?

Assuming the 12v cranking battery in the tow car has sufficient power for some deep cycle and cranking.

The air conditioners have low voltage protections for starting protection in a 24v truck application, can I expect that we could not protect the low voltage start protection when a 12v semi deep cycle battery (MF66EF) is used in the tow car.

The 12/24 will do the job in power supply more if the Aircon draw is within the Orion rating.
