Orion when ignition is on, MPPT when ignition is off

I want to pair an Orion with a SmartSolar MPPT in such a way that with ignition on solar is switched off and Orion switches on, and with ignition off the reverse.

Previous answers to this question suggest the only way to achieve this properly are via an ignition switched relay to cut the MPPT connection.

Is this right?

Have you looked using a ve direct Non inverting remote on/off cable in your set up?
