I have 3 batteries what battery is the display referencing they can't all be at the same soc what if I have one failed battery and two ok to go on float

generally the front panel display will indicate the lowest of the three batteries - as this will be taking the bulk of the charge. If you have a 'failed' battery, this would depend if it is sulphated (high resistance) or with a short cell ( low voltage). A sulphated battery will not accept charge and go to float too soon, a short cell battery will pull the charge voltage down, and won't go into float.
