I have an older Fischer Panda AGT 4000 genset, and a full Victron system with a MultiPlus and CCGX. I know that genset control with more "modern" FPs is as well-worth path; is there a path to success for the older units as well?

The older "Mini" series FP has a control panel like shown below. You can buy a remote control add-on board from FP that simply sits on connector pins at the back. It responds to closed contacts for start and stop and is perfectly compatible with the Cerbo GX relay output for generator start and stop. That little remote board handles the start and stop sequence for the generator. It does work very well. Not sure what your generator remote looks like but if it is like the one shown it is easily interfaced to the CerboGX.
